By the end of this week, I’ll be laying down in a beautiful beach in the Caribbean while sipping on a Piña colada and getting my tan on. It’s the perfect way to spend the weekend after Thanksgiving because I am oh so grateful to be leaving this New England cold!
I haven’t traveled since the summer which means I’ve had a whole three months to reflect on my experience and plan out my next destination. Everyone travels for different reasons but mine always happens to be for the culture. Nothing fascinates me more than learning and observing different ways of life because no one can ever tell me “oh yeah, well I heard in ____ they do this” because I’ll have seen it first-hand and can make my own judgement on the subject.
Every once in a while though, I’ll admit.. I do love my tropical vacations.
I’m going to be visiting Trinidad & Tobago with my mom. She told me from now on, the only presents she wants to receive are vacation-related ones (like mother, like daughter). So for her birthday I bought the flights and for Christmas I bought us the hotel stay.. killing two birds with one stone on this one lol.
T&T, they are two islands I had never heard of before iiSuperwomanii from YouTube introduced it to me. When she did a world tour, Lilly posted on Instagram about how she’s always wanted to go there and how this was the place she was most excited for in the entire trip. If you watch YouTube religiously like I do, you trust your favs with your life even though you’ve never met them. So if they say “this is an amazing island” and “I’ve been dying to go there” you can bet your butt that I’m adding that on my places to see.
If she had posted about it once maybe it wouldn’t have caught my attention, but she didn’t. She talked about it quite a bit and from there I was sold. Before I had even seen a picture of this place, before I even knew where it was located on a map, I KNEW I was going. I feel like I do this with all of my trips but I swear, it always works. If you decide to keep reading my blog and get to know me over time, you’ll realize I never have a plan. I just trust myself. I just really really believe that I’m going to these places and the universe looks at me like “well, since you already know what you want I might as well give it to you”.
Believe in what you want so much that it has no choice but to materialize
And before you think that the universe doesn’t work in your favor, ask yourself when was the last time you just did something and BELIEVED it would all work out… Not hoped, but truly trusted that it was all coming together and made steps to ensure it did? I promise you’ll get crazy results.
After having made the decision I was going, I decided to do some research. I googled the two islands and realized that this was paradise. Driving a four-wheeler around the island, riding horses on the beach, scuba diving in clear water.. I mean, what more does one need to be convinced?
I’m not sure how much you guys know about the Law of Attraction but it’s something that’s constantly happening while you’re aware of it or not so use it to your advantage! It basically states that whatever you think, you manifest into reality. There’s a catch though, you can’t think “I want”, or else it’ll always be in the future and you’ll always stay “wanting” it. You need to act like it’s a fact and truly believe it’s already happening.. like you just ordered your package online and now you just have to wait for it to get there but you know it’s on it’s way.
I’ve always known thoughts were powerful but I didn’t understand the degree. So before I even knew about all this, when I saw Lilly’s post about T&T, I said I was going and that was that. There was no doubt in my mind and nonetheless, one or two months later the opportunity presented itself for me to buy the trip.
I was searching around wondering what to buy my mom and this deal came up to go to the islands. I couldn’t believe it because I know I said I was going but sometimes things happen so quickly, you don’t even have time to grasp it. When I checked my bank account, I realized that I should save a couple of more weeks before buying the trip but the thing with that is, you never know when the deals going to end. So I did the only logical thing I could in that moment and said,
I took a chance, transferred from my savings, bought it, and eventually paid myself back.
The way I told my mom we were going was by printing a picture of the country’s flag and handing it to her at her birthday party. I told her we were traveling but why ruin all the fun and actually tell her the destination too lol. She went around to all of her guests asking if they know where it was but since T&T isn’t a well-known place, it took about 20 minutes until someone googled it and ended the mystery.
When everyone found out where we were going they were excited but at the same time they just looked at me like where is that lmao. And to be honest, I find that awesome. I think that’s what life’s about sometimes. Not knowing but just doing it anyways. Where’s the fun in going someplace that you already know everything about? I want to visit random islands, explore places that not many have been to and see where it takes me. I have no idea what to expect from this place and I’m not looking it up anymore either. I kind of just want it all to be a bit of surprise.
The way I see it, I’m going to visit every place I dream of so if this week I decide to invest my money in a trip to Trinidad & Tobago instead of a big bucket list destination like Tokyo, who cares? That just means that instead of going to Tokyo now I’ll go next year but one thing is for certain, I’m going.
What’s a random destination you want to travel to that not many people know about?
